Maintenance Tips for Your Heating Oil Storage Tank

- 8:49 am - May 16th, 2019

Glider Oil customers know that it’s great having their own personal supply of heating oil on their property! In order to protect the integrity of an oil storage tank, however, it’s wise to keep an eye on the one supplying your New York home with reliable heating oil – especially if you have an aboveground storage tank!

Here are some tips to keep in mind in order to help maintain your oil storage tank!

  • Keep a full tank. A full tank prevents buildup of any sediments that can cause damage to your heating equipment or corrosion inside the tank

  • Keep all fill and vent caps tight. Tightly secured caps will prevent air from getting into the tank, and reduce the amount of rainfall that finds its way into the tank.

  • Keep the tank clean. The tank’s exterior should be cleaned thoroughly to keep dirt and dust from getting inside the tank. Additionally, the interior of your tank should be cleaned as well!
